Hello everyone! We are having a good day--with just a few bumps! She is still on the C-pap, but her stats (heart rate especially) dropped several times this morning. The nurses reassured me this is normal with preemies, but it made my heart rate go up!!! She still weighs 1 lb. 3 oz., but they have continued to increase her feeds to 10cc today. As they increase her feeds, the nurses will measure her belly and watch her diapers to make sure she is able to tolerate the increases. Todd and I continue to be humbled by your kind gestures and prayers!

Love,
Todd, Leah, Cole, and Laurie

We learned with Neil's recovery that for every leap he took in getting better, there are sometimes a few baby steps back. God is still in control and will hold your sweet baby's hand throughout this process (and your's too!). We are still praying for Laurie Ann, her Mommy, Daddy, and big brother, as well as the nurses and doctors that are caring for her!!

Contining to lift you all in prayer. I saw Todd and Cole out shopping for new shorts earlier today. He showed me where he lost his tooth! I read this scripture today and thought I would share it with you.
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Prayers are continuing to go up!I know your heart rate went up, but I know you were relieved to see her okay..in hospitals I have always heard about patients that it is just like a roller coaster..up and down..but you have the faith and the promise of our Lord that He is taking care of us..my husband and I were talking about your husband last night..and how hard it would be to leave..and Kenny said, well he knows she is in the Lord's hand and what better place to be or better comfort of knowing He is with her all the time! Love and Prayers..The Hill Family

Dear Leah,
Someone finally sent me your blog, so I've been reading everything and catching up on Laurie's condition.

I'm thrilled to read that everything seems to be going well!

I hope that you'll be able to make arrangements for the long-term place that I gave Todd the info on.

All of you are in my thoughts and prayers!!
Love,
Mary Sue

God is still God and He will keep
Laurie protected and safe. The definition for "normal" has just
changed for a little while. We were remembering how scary it was with Drew's bradycardia. Randy said to tell you not to worry or freak out looking at the monitors and listening to alarms, but to keep your eyes on your heavenly Father who has it all under control. Drew says, don't
worry, be happy. Look at him! He's
just fine now. I think Laurie's feisty, pulling that cord out. Cole better look out...in a year or two, she's going to be the boss and give him a run for his money!

I love you and yes it is 2:30am! :) I can't sleep and I am sitting here in the quiet lifting you,Laurie,Todd, and Cole in Prayer! Remember God is in Control! I know you All have faith and comfort in that alone. I am here for All of you every step of the way! As I sit here in prayer for all of you I am reminded of God's word in Psalms 46:10: Be Still and know that I Am God. That is one of his many blessings he has given you. Time away from lifes crazy schedules to be right where he wants you to be. And the best part is he is right there with you, Todd, Laurie and Cole, wrapping his loving and healing arms around Laurie.
It is comforting to know that no matter what the circumstances are...GOD IS in Control. Even in the scary moments as you experienced today. Girl, You already amaze me! I was on edge in RINCU hearing all those monitors beeping louder and louder at times. You were so calm, You were telling me not to worry! :) God has blessed All of you with your strength and comfort. It truly comforts me to see the peace and smiles on all of your faces.I can't wait to here from you tomorrow. Everyday brings a new blessing from God! I can't wait to see what he will bless you with tomorrow! Brian and I love All of you very much! Our thoughts and prayers are with you always! May God Richly Bless you today,
Love you, Tracy

Leah,
I talked with Mr. Retherford yesterday and he told me about Laurie Anne's early arrival. When you told me you were expecting a girl I guess I should have warned you--girls are more impatient than boys!! She already knew what a wonderful family she was getting and she just couldn't wait. Please know that I am praying for your precious baby and for you and your family. Also, I will be going to Birmingham next week if there is anything you need from home, please let me know.
Congratulations to you, Todd and Cole!
Love and prayers,

Praying Laurie will continue doing well as the doctors increase her feeds. God's holding your precious baby, His child in His loving hands, he is the only one that loves Laurie more than her earthly parents. God is with your precious baby girl ALL the time!!What a comfort that has to be knowing God's in control of this roller coaster ride. Praying for your ENTIRE family, ALL the doctors and nurses. Praying the non-believer witness Christ in you. That they are able to see the power of prayer, strength, and the Faith your family has. That others will acknowledge the miracles God has performed and will continue performing in Laurie's life and the life of your family. We will be out of town the next week and a half but will not stop praying hard for all of you. God Bless y'all and to God be the glory great things he has done!!

Dear All,
Just wanted you to know that we love you, think of you daily and pray often that God's will be done. As I looked at Laurie Ann's beautiful picture it brought back so many memories of Bre's birth. The monitor's beeping, the up and down O2 Sats, just even the bump in the road days. I can hardly believe that she will be 15 this month. I can remember asking God many time why this(BreAnn's premature birth) had to happen to me and my baby. Proverbs 19:21 tell's us Many are the plan in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. We are human and it is our human nature to question. But after getting Laurie Ann well and home God will reveal daily to you his reason's and purpose. Know that we love you and can't wait to see you all. Tell Cole hello!!
Love,
Dawn

You probably do not know me, but I go to Hillcrest with you and I am a friend of Tracy's. I had twins that were born at UAB in Feb of 2003. They were born at 32 weeks and both weighed 2 lbs. Your story has just brought back a flood of memories to my family. My husband and I remember the long days at the RNICU/NICU and staying at the UAB Townhouse. All I can say is you are in the hands of the best doctors and nurses. They are truly gifts from God. Dr. Carlo was our twins doctor and I remember trying to be in the room every morning just to hear the update and see what the daily round of treatment would consist of. Make sure that you get rest. I know it is so hard to leave Laurie, however, you have to be ready to take care of her when she comes home. Ask the nurses for extra preemie passies because you will not be able to get those anywhere but there. They will be lifesavers for months to come! My son kept setting off the montiors by having bradys. Finally, Dr. Carlo looked at him and figured out that they were associated around feeding times. It was when he was made and ready to eat. The counts of the alarms are not always as bad as they seem if you look and see what is causing them. Babies get upset too, and my twins had an attitude from day one! Before you know it, it will be a year from now and you will be attending the NICU reunion with us. Ask the doctors and nurses about the reunion list and make sure your address gets but on it. All babies taken care of at UAB are invited to participate and see the doctors and nurses and play games and win prizes. It is a great time. Please feel free to get in touch with me if you ever want to talk or just vent. I may have some answers or suggestions for you.

God Bless,
Shannon Smith
